Bread Pudding

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point. The book gives no cooking times either; the times in the steps were added in transcription, so check for doneness rather than trusting the clock.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Tear stale bread into small pieces and place in a bowl.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt.

  4. Pour the milk mixture over the bread and let it soak for 15 minutes.

  5. Grease a baking dish with butter and pour the mixture into it.

  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes until set and golden brown.

  7. Serve cold with sauce.
