To Boil Turnips

Ingredients

Directions

Prepare

  1. Peel the fibrous rind from the turnips and either split them in half or leave them whole.

Boil

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil and add a pinch of coarse sea salt.

  2. Add the turnips to the boiling water and cover the pot to keep out smoke and dust.

  3. Boil small, young turnips for 15 to 20 minutes, or full‑grown turnips for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until tender.

  4. For better flavor, you can boil the turnips in their skins and peel them afterwards.
