Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Brussels sprouts
Form the main body of the dish and carry the flavour and texture.
Butter
Adds richness and fat, coating the sprouts and carrying flavour.

The step that matters

Cooking the sprouts in boiling water for 15 minutes. Boiling in plenty of water at a full boil cooks the sprouts evenly, while draining well prevents excess water from diluting the butter and making the sprouts soggy.
