Ingredients

Directions

  1. Boil the milk, cream, and gelatin together for 30 minutes, or until the gelatin is melted.

  2. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve into a bowl.

  3. Let it cool slightly, then add enough raspberry jelly to make 1 cup when melted. Stir well until thoroughly mixed.

  4. If not sweet enough, add some powdered sugar and the brandy.

  5. Whisk the mixture until nearly cold, pour it into a well-oiled mold, and refrigerate.

Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Gelatin
Sets the mixture so it holds its shape when chilled.
Cream
Adds richness and a smooth, velvety texture.
Milk
Forms the liquid base that the gelatin sets in.
Raspberry jelly
Adds fruit flavour and colour to the set cream.

The step that matters

Whisking until nearly cold. Gelatin sets as it cools, so pouring the mixture too warm can let it separate or set unevenly. Whisking while it cools helps keep it smooth and evenly blended before it sets in the mold.
