Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Lemon jelly powder
Sets the mixture into a firm, wobbly structure once chilled.
Egg whites
Beaten to stiff peaks, they give the frappe its light, airy texture.
Grape juice
Provides the main flavour and liquid base of the dessert.
Whipped cream
Adds richness and a soft, creamy contrast to serve alongside.

The step that matters

Adding the jelly to the egg whites. The jelly must be thickened but still pourable; if it is fully set, it will not blend smoothly into the whites, and if too warm, it may deflate the foam. Gradual addition while beating keeps the foam stable.

Swap the grape

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (lemon, egg, cream):

  1. Raspberryfits better
  2. Orangefits better
  3. Limefits better
  4. Grapethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against lemon, egg, cream. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
