Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Wash and dry the currants, cut the cherries into pieces, slice the candied peel, and blanch and chop the almonds.

  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter until smooth.

  4. Gradually add the sugar, flour, and eggs, mixing thoroughly after each addition.

  5. Incorporate the remaining ingredients, mixing well.

  6. Line a cake tin with buttered paper, pour in the batter, and place it on a baking sheet with layers of paper underneath and on top.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven until done, maintaining an even temperature.
