Snowflake Cake

Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a moderate oven”. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Beat the butter until creamy.

  2. Gradually add the sugar and lemon juice.

  3. Once light, mix in the milk and beaten egg whites.

  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour with the baking soda and cream of tartar.

  5. Fold the flour mixture into the wet ingredients.

  6. Pour the batter onto a greased baking sheet.

  7. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F (175°C).

  8. When nearly cool, pour icing over the top.
