Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Set the mixture into a firm, sliceable body as they cook.
Bread crumbs
Soak up the milk and give the pudding its bulk and soft texture.
Milk
Provides the liquid that softens the crumbs and keeps the pudding moist.
Sugar
Adds sweetness to the pudding.

The step that matters

Tie the mold securely with a cloth. A loose cloth lets boiling water into the mold, which dilutes the mixture and can make the pudding watery and misshapen.
