Toast and Butter

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cut bread very thin for dry toast and hold it at a distance from the fire to make it crisp.

  2. For buttered toast, cut bread rather thick and place it near the fire to keep it soft.

  3. Hold the bread over a bowl of boiling water for 1-2 minutes to steam it before buttering.

  4. Butter both sides of the toast and cut off the crusts.

  5. If using fresh butter, serve with a muffineer for salt; otherwise, use good salt butter.
