Apple Pie

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Pare, core, and slice the apples.

  2. Cover the edge of the pie dish and about an inch down the sides with puff pastry.

  3. Place the sliced apples in the dish and sprinkle with enough sugar to sweeten.

  4. Cover the pie with more puff pastry and make a small hole in the center.

  5. Insert a rolled-up piece of paper into the hole to keep it open.

  6. Stew the apple parings and cores in a little water, strain it, and pour it into the pie after baking.

  7. If the apples are bland, add grated lemon peel, quince marmalade, or grated nutmeg.
