Leaf-lard
Ingredients
Directions
Wash the leaves to remove any dirt and cut them into 1-inch pieces.
Add a little water to the kettle to prevent burning, then add the leaf pieces.
Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, and dip out the melted lard as it forms.
Strain the lard through a fine sieve into a tin pail.
When most lard is removed, place the remaining scraps in a sturdy bag and press with two pieces of wood connected by a hinge.
