What each ingredient does

Milk
Forms the body of the jelly and provides its creamy base.
Gelatine
Sets the liquid milk into a firm, wobbly jelly as it cools.
Saccharine
Adds sweetness without sugar.

The step that matters

Dissolving the gelatine fully. If gelatine is not completely dissolved before straining and chilling, it can leave grainy specks or set unevenly. Stirring until no granules remain ensures a smooth, uniformly set jelly.
