Why it works: Pepper and nutmeg match in chemistry and in kitchens. They rank in the top 7% of all ingredient pairs, and cooks put them together in 13,015 recipes. Both carry 4'-methylacetophenone, which smells bitter almond. The science ↓

To Fry Eggs and Bacon

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Fry the bacon in a pan until crispy, then remove and drain the fat.

  2. Add butter to the pan and heat until hot.

  3. Break the eggs into the pan and cook gently.

  4. Once one side is cooked, carefully turn the eggs to cook the other side.

  5. Serve the bacon first, then place the eggs on top, keeping them separate in the pan while cooking.
