Ingredients

Directions

Prepare the mold

  1. Scald and decorate a pretty mold.

Layer the jelly and fruit

  1. Pour in 3 inches of jelly and let it set.

  2. Lightly arrange a few pieces of each fruit in the mold, mixed with colors.

  3. Pour another layer of tepid jelly over the fruit and repeat until the mold is full.

  4. Be careful not to overload the jelly with fruit, or it will break when turned out.

Set

  1. Set the mold on ice.

What each ingredient does

Lemon jelly
Forms the clear, firm gel that holds the fruit in place.
Strawberries
Add colour and a soft, juicy texture to the layers.
Cherries
Add colour and a soft, juicy texture to the layers.
Bananas
Add soft texture and mild sweetness to the layers.
Black grapes
Add colour and a juicy, sweet bite to the layers.
White grapes
Add colour and a juicy, sweet bite to the layers.

The step that matters

Do not overload the jelly with fruit. Too much fruit leaves too little gel to bind the layers, so the jelly can break when turned out of the mold.
