Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

Layer the pie

  1. Make a pie crust and place a layer in the bottom of a 2-quart tin basin.

  2. Add a 2-inch thick layer of chopped sour apples.

  3. Layer chopped raisins on top and sprinkle with sugar, butter pieces, and spices.

  4. Repeat layering with crust and fruit until the dish is full.

  5. Cover with a final layer of crust on top.

Bake and serve

  1. Bake for 2 hours.

  2. Once done, turn the pie bottom side up on a plate and sprinkle with fine sugar before serving.
