Cheap Bread

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Remove the coarsest flake bran from the flour.

  2. Boil the bran in the water for 10 minutes.

  3. Strain the bran and let the water cool to a warm temperature.

  4. Mix the warm bran water with the flour to make the dough.

  5. Bake the bread in a moderate oven at 350°F (175°C) until done.

  6. To refresh stale bread, place it in the oven for 20 minutes.
