Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Tapioca
Swells as it cooks, thickening the milk and giving the pudding its chewy texture.
Milk
Provides the liquid that the tapioca absorbs, and the creamy body of the pudding.
Sugar
Adds sweetness to balance the mild, plain flavor of the pudding.

The step that matters

Boil the tapioca until tender. Tapioca pearls stay firm and opaque if undercooked. They need enough heat and time to fully hydrate and turn translucent, which gives the pudding its smooth, tender texture.

Swap the lemon

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (milk, sugar, strawberry, cream):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Raspberryfits better
  3. Bananafits better
