Why it works: Rhubarb and flour match in chemistry and in kitchens. They rank in the top 7% of all ingredient pairs, and cooks put them together in 670 recipes. Both carry isobutyraldehyde, which smells malty, green. The science ↓

Pie Plaxt Pie

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cut up the pie plant and let it stand in boiling water for about 10 minutes.

  2. Drain off the water and fill the under crust with the pie plant.

  3. Sprinkle with sugar to taste, then add flour and butter.

  4. If desired, add sliced lemon.

  5. Cut the upper crust small for the plate and do not seal the edges.

  6. This allows steam to escape and prevents overflow.
