Stuffed Ginger Cake

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Bake the Sour Milk Ginger Cake in a round pan.

  2. Once baked, dig out the center, leaving a 1-inch thick shell.

  3. Prepare 1.5 times the Ice Water Meringue recipe.

  4. Fill the cake with the meringue, adding sliced nuts or fruit if desired.

  5. Bake in a 300°F (150°C) oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

  6. Alternatively, use stiff whipped cream instead of meringue.
