Baked Ham with Riced Eggs

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare the ham

  1. Soak the ham slice in warm water for 15 minutes.

  2. Remove the ham from the water and place it in a baking dish.

  3. Add enough milk to cover the ham.

Bake

  1. Cover the baking dish and bake at 300°F (150°C) for about 50 minutes.

Serve

  1. Remove the ham from the liquid and place it on a serving plate.

  2. Rice the hard boiled eggs over the ham and season with pepper.

  3. Make gravy from the liquid in the baking dish and pour it over the ham.

  4. Garnish with parsley.

What each ingredient does

Ham
Provides the main meat, which is softened by soaking and gently baked in milk.
Milk
Covers the ham during baking, keeping it moist and forming the base for the gravy.
Hard boiled eggs
Add a firm, crumbly texture and richness when riced over the warm ham.
