Ale Posset

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cut off the crust from the stale white bread and cut the crumb into very small pieces.

  2. Put the bread pieces into new milk and let it boil.

  3. Warm a little good ale with a little sugar and nutmeg.

  4. Pour the milk and bread mixture into a basin with the ale and stir well.

  5. Serve it up; for a curdled posset, use equal parts ale and milk; for a smooth posset, use less ale.
