Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a moderate oven”. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Roll the dough to 1 inch thick.

  2. Spread the dough with butter.

  3. Sprinkle chopped dates and figs over the butter.

  4. Roll up the dough tightly.

  5. Slice the rolled dough crosswise into 1-inch thick pieces.

  6. Place the slices in a well-greased pan.

  7. Let the rolls rise.

  8. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F (175°C) until golden.
