Bread- and-Butter Pudding

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Butter a pudding dish or mold.

  2. Layer bread and butter slices in the dish, sprinkling currants, cinnamon, and sugar between each layer.

  3. Fill the dish three-quarters full.

  4. In a bowl, beat the eggs with cream or milk and lemon peel to make a custard.

  5. Pour the custard slowly into the dish so the bread absorbs it without floating.

  6. Bake for one hour.
