Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a hot oven”. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. In a large saucepan, combine honey, sugar, and butter over medium heat. Stir until it boils.

  2. Gradually add flour until the mixture no longer sticks to the sides of the pan.

  3. Mix in the dissolved baking powder and remaining ingredients.

  4. Pour the batter into a baking dish and bake in a hot oven at 400°F (200°C) until golden.

Transcribed from a scanned cookbook and modernised for today's kitchens. Where the book gave no heat or time, or said "a moderate oven", the temperatures and times here may be modern equivalents rather than the book's own figures.
