Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Line a dish with thin slices of bread.

  2. Layer fruit and brown sugar in alternate layers with slices of bread.

  3. Once the dish is filled, pour over ½ cup of water.

  4. Top with thin pieces of bread and sprinkle generously with brown sugar.

  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until thoroughly done.
