Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs
What each ingredient does
- Peaches
- Provide the fruit that softens and absorbs the spiced vinegar flavour during pickling.
- Vinegar
- Provides acidity that preserves the fruit and gives the pickle its sharp, tangy character.
- Mustard seed
- Adds pungent, sharp flavour that spreads through the pickle over time.
- Whole white pepper
- Contributes warm, pungent aroma to the spiced pickling liquid.
The step that matters
Draining the peaches before pickling. Excess brine left on the fruit dilutes the vinegar and can weaken preservation and flavour, so the peaches should be well drained before the hot pickle is poured over them.
Swap the white pepper
