  1. Cut the puff pastry to fit the dish.

  2. Mark the cover about an inch from the edge and ornament it as desired.

  3. Brush the yolk of egg over the pastry.

  4. Bake in a 400°F (200°C) oven for 20-30 minutes until browned.

  5. Detach the cover and scoop out the soft crumb inside.

  6. Drain excess butter on clean paper.

  7. Fill with a rich fricassee or other desired filling and serve immediately.
