Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Heat the milk in a cloth until it thickens, but do not let it boil.

  2. Pour the milk out and let it cool.

  3. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, and sugar to taste.

  4. Stir in the shredded suet and beaten eggs with salt.

  5. Fold in the chopped raisins or currants and candied peel.

  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes with a puff pastry crust underneath.
