Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Syrup
Sugar dissolves into the liquid, lowering its freezing point and keeping the ice soft and scoopable.
Kirschenwasser
Alcohol lowers the freezing point further, so the ice stays softer and less icy.
Lemon juice
Adds acidity that brightens the sweetness and sharpens the fruit flavours.
Mixed fruits
Add texture and fresh fruit flavour pieces throughout the frozen mixture.

The step that matters

Freezing until it begins to set. Partly freezing before folding in the fruit keeps the fruit evenly suspended instead of sinking or floating. Freezing fully first would make the mixture too firm to fold and mould.
