Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Bind the mixture and add structure as the pudding sets.
Bread crumbs
Absorb liquid and give the pudding body and a soft crumb.
Suet
Adds fat that keeps the pudding moist and rich as it cooks.
Sugar
Adds sweetness and contributes to the pudding's flavour.
Raisins
Add chewy texture and concentrated sweetness throughout.

The step that matters

Mix well and add enough milk to moisten. The crumbs need enough liquid to soften and hold together; too dry and the pudding crumbles, too wet and it turns heavy and dense when boiled.

Swap the currant
